IS LAW AS A GOOD CAREER IN INDIA?

If you were thought about law as a career option around year 2000 you would face lots of problem.
when i decided study law and shared the news with my parents. He had hard time to accepting his son will be a lawyer. He was correct in his thoughts. In his time a law as career so tough. It was almost as if felt that i was throwing my life away.

I was good boy i did good in my study.I was studying in science stream (PCM) and should attempt to
became a engineer at least. Law was not an accepted option.

It took many month to convincing my father and mother to be able to study law.

In 2018 the  perception of law as a career is completely changed. It is now very good option. Everyone has heard the stories that corporate lawyer can earn in crores.
Litigator can ever more.

Engineer used to be the big favorite of average Indian parents. In recent time engineering colleges get quantity of student rather than quality except few. Many MBA colleges met the same fate as jobs are hard to get after MBA and engineering. In this content law  is becoming favorite among Indian parents.Unlike before, parents have began to push their kids to choose law as a career option.

As Indian economy is growing up, the demand for skilled lawyer is only going up.However at the same time, it is the paradox that large number of law graduates remain unemployed or struggle to find job.

this can happen only two reason-
1. These law graduates are not adequately trained. Many of them have theoretical knowledge of law, they can not serve real clients as they do not have practical skill.

2.This is why, choosing the right law college where the administration has a vision and understanding of where the legal market is headed is very important. Always check before joining, does your preferred law college have method in place to provide practical training to the student? Are the students graduating with jobs Or are they able to find well paid work on their on?

Most law colleges will claim that they give practical training. Most even have same name sake courses and classes where they supposedly teach skills like contract drafting, petition drafting etc. However usually these classes where they are ineffective. They do not have any proper faculty or material to teach such skills.

Actively learn about the career opportunities that are arising in new areas of legal work ,such as MBA, banking media law, technology, marine law cyber law, transfer pricing corporate litigation , energy law, regulatory litigation, arbitration and so on.See which ones appeal to you. Then decide which one you want to focus on,and what skills are necessary to succeed in that job. Then you have to go ahead and actually build those skills. That is hard work. there is no shortcut for that.
However, if your college also helps you in that, that wonderful. Otherwise, it is counter productive to struggle on your own as your valuable resources, time and money, goes into the wrong direction as far as college in concerned.
To sum up, there are ample opportunities after studying law to have a fantastic career. However, one has to be careful. This is an applied area of work, not of theoretical knowledge. You must develop your skills in practical legal work, one way or another.
If your college does no help you to develop practical skills, please do own efforts and and take upIf your college does not help you to develop practical skills, please do own efforts  and take up a course that will helpe you to acquire those practical skills that are valued by recreiters, and will help you to be gain fully employed or build your very own law practice with paying client.
We know the exact problems you will face when you are trying to find internship, when you are trying to impress a potential employer during that internship, or what you will face in job interviews.
We know the challenges you will face when you begin your job, or when will you begin to build your own practice.
In any case, have to prepare your strategy as to how you are going to get the dream job or start your own practice and find the clients. Do not leave it until it is too late.

WITH BEST WISHES.
